Dr. Imes Chiu

Dr. Chiu has twenty years of professional and academic experience related to stability and support operations in the United States and Asia. She established and developed the academic and governmental collaborative partnerships at the Center for Excellence and leads the Center's project conceptualization, testing, application and implementation of disaster management technologies. Dr. Chiu lectures and speaks at various institutions on disaster preparedness, resiliency, and public–private partnerships. Prior to working at the U.S. Department of Defense, Dr. Chiu taught at Cornell University, the University of Washington and Ateneo de Manila University. Her first book on U.S.–Philippine military history garnered the 2008–2009 Global Filipino Literary Award for Nonfiction and was recommended by CHOICE, a premier scholarly research journal used by academics and librarians.
