Angel holds a business degree from the University of Technology Sydney and a Masters in Human Resource Management from the University of Sydney. She began her humanitarian career with World Vision International (WV) in 1998 as a Programme Officer for the Humanitarian Team, and spent the next three years responding to various disasters in Indonesia, Timor Leste and India. She took a five-year break from the humanitarian sector to work in the private sector primarily in the education and the hospitality industries, including running her own business in Indonesia. Angel returned to the humanitarian sector in 2005 to support WV’s humanitarian responses to the Indian Ocean Tsunami. Following the tsunami, she joined WV’s Global Rapid Response Team for four years. During this period, she was deployed to lead programming of large scale humanitarian responses in many countries including Myanmar, DRC, Pakistan and Niger. Since 2011, her role in WV has primarily focused on the Asia Pacific region, working with WV’s national teams to strengthen disaster risk reduction measures, and improve the quality of humanitarian programming. She provides strategic oversight in Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management to ten countries including Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, India, Indonesia, Philippines, Timor Leste, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu where World Vision works to help reduce disaster risks of the most vulnerable children and their communities.
